BHAIRAWA: A boy drowned while swimming in a reservoir in Rupandehi on Friday.

The dead one is Shyamu Gupta, 15, a resident of Omsatiya rural municipality-5, according to police. Information officer at District Police Office, Rupandehi, Suraj Karki, said the boy had drowned in the reservoir at Gonhiya of Siddharthanagar municipality-9. As the information on the incident was relayed very late on Thursday, immediate rescue was not possible. Once the search was launched on Friday morning, he was found dead in a stream near the reservoir later.

The lifeless body is sent to Bhim Hospital of Bhairahawa for post mortem, information officer Karki shared, adding that further investigation into the incident was underway.
