Two dead, three injured in motorcycle collision in Saptari

SAPTARI: Two people were killed and three others injured after two motorcycles collided on the Postal Highway section in Banauli, Khadak Municipality-11, Saptari.

According to the police, the collision occurred between a motorcycle (Madhesh Province 01–005 Pa 6832) traveling from Bodebarsain toward Rajbiraj and another motorcycle (Madhesh Province 2–01–003 Pa 6932) coming from the opposite direction.

Chintamani Chaudhary, 28, a resident of Belha, Khadak Municipality-10, and the driver of one of the motorcycles, succumbed to serious injuries while undergoing treatment at Chhinnamasta Hospital, Rajbiraj, on Thursday night, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dambar Puri of the Saptari District Police Office.

Similarly, the other motorcycle driver, Sobin Chaudhary, 27, from Ward 7, Surunga Municipality, also died at 11 am during treatment, the police added.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after postmortem on Friday. In the same accident, Sobin’s wife, 25-year-old Ramita Chaudhary, and the 8-year-old daughter of Sovin’s friend Santosh Chaudhary, Rachana Chaudhary, were injured.

Ramita sustained injuries to her abdomen and both legs, while Rachana suffered head and leg injuries. Both are undergoing treatment, the Saptari District Police Office confirmed.
