SINDHUPALCHOK: Two girls went missing this afternoon after being buried in a landslide along the Balephi–Dhade inner road section at Jalbire, Balephi Rural Municipality–1.

According to District Police Chief and Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Karki, the missing girls are 17-year-old Phoolmaya Lama and her 5-year-old sister Manmaya Lama.

They are daughters of Jyangjang Lama of Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality–2, who were on their way to visit their maternal uncle’s house in Golche, Jugal Rural Municipality–2.

The incident occurred at around 4:45 PM when a mudslide swept down onto the road, burying them.

Following the incident, a 10-member police team led by Inspector Gajendra Rawat from Jalbire Area Police Office has been deployed for search and rescue operations, the Sindhupalchok District Police Office confirmed.
