Two killed, six injured in jeep accident in Baitadi

BAITADI: Two people have died in a jeep accident in Baitadi. The jeep (Suppra 04 001J 1372) heading from Dhangadhi to Ganna in Darchula met with an accident.

Santosh Bahadur Rana, 24, a driver from Dilasaini Rural Municipality-1, and Kiran Bohara, 32, from the same place, died, said Police Inspector Balram Pandey, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Baitadi.

Six other people in the jeep were injured. Ram Kumar Rana, 45, of Dilasaini-1, Bhagrati Khatri, 21, his two-year-old daughter Alisa, 21-year-old Hemanta Prasad Bhatta, 27-year-old Rajendra Bahadur Khatri, and 51-year-old Kamala Dhami were injured, said Police Inspector Pandey. Rajendra and Kalma have been sent to Dhangadhi for further treatment, according to the District Police Office, Baitadi.

The jeep accident occurred at 5:30 am on Saturday in Khipali, Patan-6, Baitadi. Immediately after receiving information about the accident, a team from the Area Police Office, Patan, and locals were deployed for rescue. The jeep came to rest on a cliff about 100 meters below the road. The cause of the accident has not been revealed.
