RUPANDEHI: Two local youths drowned in Gaidahawa Lake, located in Gaidahawa, on Wednesday after a rescue attempt went wrong.

According to Suryapura Area Police, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the two friends went for a swim in the lake, located in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality-6, at around 4:00 pm.

The man-made lake, the largest in the Rupandehi district, covers an area of 84 bighas and has recently seen a rise in domestic tourism.
