KATHMANDU: Dev Krishna Parajuli, the Ward Chair of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 4, has been arrested on charges of assaulting a municipal employee and a businessman.
Parajuli was apprehended from Dhikidanda, Pokhara-16.
According to Kaski Police Chief Shyam Babu Oliya, preparations are underway to extend his custody for further investigation under public offense charges.
On Tuesday, Parajuli allegedly assaulted Ishwari Prasad Pokharel, a seventh-level officer at the metropolitan office, and businessman Lekhnath Subedi.
Following the incident, Subedi filed a complaint at the Kaski Police Office, citing physical assault.
In protest, municipal employees halted all work on Wednesday, demanding security guarantees for staff members.
Parajuli was elected as the Ward Chair on a Nepali Congress ticket during the 2022 local elections.
