PESHAWAR: A Pakistani Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) official was killed, and two personnel were injured after a blast on Sunday morning at a Peshawar police station.
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad publicly confirmed the casualties.
Preliminary assessment attributes the explosion to the detonation of old explosives stored in the police station’s ammunition room, with the subsequent fire causing further blasts.
Authorities confirmed the incident was not a terrorist attack. The CCPO stated that rescue and clearance operations were immediately launched by the Bomb Disposal Unit, fire brigade, and security forces.
This incident highlights recurring issues of poor safety standards, recalling a similar explosion at the Swabi district police station in September 2024 that killed three people.
