KATHMANDU: Nepal women’s national team defender Puja Rana has signed with Bangladesh’s Nasrin Sports Academy to play in the SAFF Club Championship, making her the first foreign player in Bangladeshi women’s football history.
The academy announced the signing on Facebook, stating, “Puja Rana is now part of Nasrin Sports Academy. This is the first foreign signing in Bangladeshi women’s football history.”
Rana was previously playing for Bhutanese club Transport United, but her contract had ended, clearing the way for the move to Bangladesh.
The inaugural edition of the SAFF Club Championship is scheduled from December 5 to 20 at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.
Participating clubs include Nasrin Sports Academy (Bangladesh), APF Club (Nepal), East Bengal Club (India), Transport United (Bhutan), and Karachi City FC (Pakistan).
