KATHMANDU: A group of Nepali football supporters held a peaceful sit-in at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) headquarters in Satdobato on Sunday.
Around a dozen fans demonstrated with placards demanding accountability for mismanagement, league suspension, financial opacity, and the decision to host home games abroad.
Security personnel were deployed in large numbers around the ANFA premises before the protest began.
Under President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, who completed three years in office, ANFA has managed to complete only one cycle of the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League in its four-year term.
The league itself has not been held for nearly three years.
Meanwhile, ANFA had called a meeting today with the 14 participating clubs to discuss organizing the next Martyr’s Memorial League but postponed it at the last moment.
