KATHMANDU: Nepal women’s cricket team captain Indu Barma has become the first Nepali woman cricketer to score 1,000 runs in T20 internationals.
She reached the milestone during the fourth match of the ongoing T20I series against Malaysia at the Bayuemas Oval.
Nepal won the match by six wickets, with Barma contributing an unbeaten 48-run innings, helping her team level the five-match series at 2–2.
Barma has been part of the senior national team since 2019. In 70 innings, she has scored 1,033 runs with one half-century, averaging 18.78 and a strike rate of 83.71, hitting 77 fours and three sixes.
Her only half-century came against Qatar on November 16, 2021, when she scored 55 runs retired not out. Veteran all-rounder Sita Rana Magar follows with 965 runs in 59 innings, including one half-century.
Rubina Khatri Belbase has scored 936 runs, while vice-captain Pooja Mahato has accumulated 516 runs in just 34 innings, making them key contributors to Nepal’s batting lineup.
