Lumbini Lions defeats Biratnagar by five wickets

KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions has defeated Biratnagar Kings in today’s match of the ongoing Nepal Premier League by five wickets. With this, it has so far emerged victorious in three matches.

Chasing the 145-run victory target posted by Biratnagar Kings, Lumbini completed it for the loss of five wickets.

For Lumbini, D’Arcy Short made highest 75 runs while Biratnagar’s Captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Subhas Bhandari took two wickets each and Basir Ahmad one wicket.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the loss at Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Biratnagar Kings scored 144 runs in 20 stipulated overs losing eight wickets.

Biratnagar’s Lokesh Bam gathered the highest 35 runs while Basir Ahmad contributed 28 runs and Sam Heazlett 27 runs. Sher Malla of Lumbini took three wickets.

With this victory, Lumbini Lions has scored six points, keeping alive its chance for playoff. Biratnagar Kings possessing eight points from six games is also in playoff race.
