KATHMANDU: Bhuvan Nagarkoti has won the title of the Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open, the fourth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26.
Playing an even-par 68 in the final round today (Friday), Nagarkoti secured the title with an overall score of 6-under 266. He defeated Dinesh Prajapati and Sanjay Lama by four strokes to claim his second consecutive title. With the victory, he received a cash prize of Rs 150,000. This marks the 13th title of his career.
Sanjay and Dinesh finished tied for second at 2-under 270 overall. Sanjay carded 1-over 69, while Dinesh shot 3-over 71 in the final round. They each received Rs 95,000 in prize money.
Nepal’s number one golfer Niraj Tamang, along with Rabi Khadka and Rame Magar, shared fourth place with a total score of 1-under 271. Niraj carded 1-over 69, Rabi 2-over 70, and Rame 3-over 71 in the final round. Each received Rs 63,000 in prize money.
Toran Bikram Shahi finished seventh with an overall score of 2-over 274 after firing a 3-under 65 today. He received Rs 47,000. Jayaram, who played an even-par 68, ended the tournament in eighth place at 3-over 275 overall and earned Rs 41,000.
Bhuvan Kumar Rokaya and Tanka Bahadur Karki tied for ninth place at 5-over 277 overall. Bhuvan carded 2-under 66, while Tanka shot 2-over 70 in the final round. They each received Rs 33,500.
In the amateur category, national team player Rahul Bishwakarma defeated Swapnil Bhattarai by eight strokes to win the title. Rahul shot 3-under 65 today for an overall even-par 272. Swapnil, who carded 3-over 71, finished at 8-over 280 overall. Mahendra Phagami placed third in the amateur section at 11-over 282 after scoring 4-over 72 in the final round.
At the start of the final 18 holes, Nagarkoti led Dinesh by just one stroke. However, with other contenders unable to mount a strong challenge, Nagarkoti’s victory became comfortable. He completed both the front and back nine at even-par 34. He made birdies on the first, fourth, and 17th holes, while dropping shots on the sixth, eighth, and 18th.
Sanjay bogeyed the seventh hole and completed the front nine at 1-over 35, saving par on the remaining holes. He birdied the 13th but dropped a shot on the 18th to finish the back nine at even-par 34.
Dinesh finished the front nine at 2-over 36 after bogeys on the first and sixth holes. He then recovered with birdies on the 10th, 13th, and 15th, but suffered bogeys on the 11th, 12th, 14th, and 16th.
The prizes were distributed by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Deputy General Manager Keshav Pradhan, Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA) President Rabindra Man Shrestha, and Royal Nepal Golf Club Captain Mithun Rai. A total of 55 golfers — 34 professionals and 21 amateurs — participated in the tournament, competing for a total prize purse of Rs 875,000. Players finishing in the top 18 positions were eligible for cash prizes.
