GUWAHATI: Nepal ‘A’ defeated Assam by 96 runs in the second match of the ongoing T20 series in Guwahati, India.
After winning the toss, Nepal A elected to bat first and posted 173 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, setting a target of 174 for Assam. Sandeep Jora led Nepal’s batting with 35 runs.
Dev Khanal and Pawan Sarraf scored 31 runs each, while Basir Ahmad made 27 and Vivek Yadav remained unbeaten on 26. Chasing Nepal’s target of 174 runs, Assam was bowled out for just 77 in 15.2 overs.
Ruhinandhan Pegul top-scored for Assam with 17 runs, while Sibashankar Roy added 16 runs.
For Nepal, leg-spinner Yubaraj Khatri took 4 wickets for 15 runs in 3.2 overs, and left-arm spinner Basir Ahmad claimed 3 wickets. Kamal Singh Airi, Akash Chand, and Vivek Yadav took 1 wicket each.
For Assam, Akash Sengupta took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. In the first game on Thursday, Nepal ‘A’ had lost to Assam by 15 runs under the DLS method.
Nepal ‘A’ will play a total of five matches against Assam, with the remaining three games scheduled as day/night matches under floodlights at the ACA Stadium.
