Nepal crush USA by 122 runs in dominant CWC League 2 victory

KATHMANDU: Nepal registered a commanding 122-run victory over United States national cricket team in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground on Friday.

Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal posted an imposing total of 317 for 8 in their allotted overs, powered by impressive half-centuries from Ishan Pandey and Dipendra Singh Airee.

Pandey top-scored with 84 runs, while Airee contributed 59. Captain Rohit Paudel added 46 runs and Aasif Sheikh chipped in with 43. Kushal Bhurtel scored 29, Aarif Sheikh made 18, while Gulsan Jha and Sompal Kami scored 15 and 5 runs respectively.

For the USA, Shubham Ranjane claimed three wickets, conceding 61 runs in his 10-over spell. Rushil Ugarkar and Milind Kumar picked up one wicket each.

Chasing a daunting target, the USA were bowled out for 195 runs in 41.2 overs despite a fighting half-century from Sanjay Krishnamurthi, who scored 56 runs. Nosthush Kenjige made 29, Shayan Jahangir scored 27, and Shehan Jayasuriya contributed 26 runs.

Nepal’s bowling attack was led by Sandeep Lamichhane, who took three wickets for 30 runs in 10 overs. Lalit Rajbanshi grabbed two wickets, while Gulsan Jha and Dipendra Singh Airee also claimed two wickets each. Sompal Kami took one wicket.
