KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket achieved a historic milestone on Monday at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
In the second T20 International, Nepal stunned two-time T20 World Cup winners West Indies with a commanding 90-run victory, establishing new records.
Chasing a target of 174, West Indies collapsed to just 83 runs in 17.1 overs. This is now the lowest total by any ICC full-member side against an associate nation in men’s T20 internationals.
The previous record was England’s 88 all out against the Netherlands in the 2014 T20 World Cup. Nepal’s 90-run win also became the largest margin of victory (by runs) for an associate nation over a full-member team.
Earlier, Afghanistan had held the record with an 81-run win against Zimbabwe in 2016. With this landmark triumph, Nepal also secured its first-ever T20I series win against a Test-playing nation.
Nepal had already won the first match of the series by 19 runs.
