Nepal defeated by 4 wickets against UAE in ICC World Cup League 2

KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered a 4-wicket defeat against the UAE in the triangular ODI series of the ICC World Cup League 2, marking their fourth consecutive loss.

In the ongoing series at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Nepal lost both matches against the USA and UAE.

Nepal was beaten by 106 runs by the USA, by 5 wickets in the first match against the UAE, and today (Wednesday) by 4 wickets.

In the fourth and final match of the series, Nepal lost the toss and batted first, scoring 239 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

UAE chased the target in 49 overs, losing 6 wickets. For UAE, Mohammad Shahdad scored a top score of 96 off 123 balls, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Mohammad Wasim contributed 76 runs off 73 balls, while Sohaib Khan added 29. Wasim and Shahdad shared a 147-run partnership off 140 balls, securing the win for UAE.

For Nepal, Karan KC took 3 wickets, while Nandan Yadav, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Sandeep Lamichhane took one each. Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Malla, and Kushal Bhurtel went wicketless.

In Nepal’s innings, Bhim Sarki scored the highest 48 runs, followed by Kushal Malla 45, Dipendra Singh Airee 37, Aasif Sheikh 34, Aarif Sheikh 30, and Sandeep Lamichhane 15 not out.

After the loss, Nepal has 12 points from 20 matches, standing seventh in the eight-team league.UAE, with 10 points from 20 matches, is at the bottom, while the USA tops the table with 36 points from 24 matches.

The top three teams in this league will retain ODI status for the next four years.
