Nepal defeated by USA by 106 runs in ICC World Cup League 2

KATHMANDU: In the 15th round of the ICC World Cup League 2, Nepal suffered a 106-run defeat against the USA in the first match.

Chasing a target of 263 set by the USA, Nepal was bowled out for 156 runs in 39.1 overs.

For Nepal, Aasif Sheikh scored 37, Bhim Sarki 29, Aarif Sheikh 20, and Sompal Kami 11 runs.

Rohit Paudel, Gulshan Jha, Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Kushal Bhurtel failed to reach double figures, while Dipendra Singh Airee scored 40.

In the process of bowling out Nepal cheaply, Harmeet Singh took 6 wickets.

Shubham Ranjane claimed 2 wickets and Rushil Ugarkar took 1.

Batting first, the USA posted a competitive total of 262 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted overs.

For the USA, Smit Patel scored 75, Milind Kumar 70, and Saiteja Mukkamalla 42 runs.

Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets, while Sompal Kami, Aarif Sheikh, and Dipendra Singh Airee took 1 wicket each.

With this victory, the USA moved to the top of the points table with 30 points.

Nepal, meanwhile, has only 12 points from 17 matches.

Even though they were level on points with Scotland, the USA overtook them due to a better net run rate.

Nepal will now face the UAE in the second match of the series on Thursday.

During the UAE tour, Nepal has three more matches remaining.

The UAE has 6 points from 16 matches.
