KATHMANDU: Nepal has been knocked out of the race for the CAVA Cup Men’s Volleyball title.
In the fourth match held on Sunday at the indoor hall in Dhaka, Nepal suffered a straight-set 3–0 defeat against Afghanistan.
This marks Nepal’s third loss in the ongoing tournament.
Earlier, Nepal had lost 3–0 to Turkmenistan and 3–2 to Bangladesh. However, a 3–0 victory over the Maldives in their fourth match had kept Nepal’s hopes of reaching the final alive.
Sunday’s loss, however, ended Nepal’s chances of finishing in the top two.
The team was unable to challenge Afghanistan in any set except the final one.
Nepal lost the first set 25–18 and the second 25–17.
In the third and final set, Nepal attempted a comeback but ultimately fell 25–21.
In the tournament, the top two teams will compete for the title.
With the win, Afghanistan climbed to third place with 7 points from 4 matches, while Nepal remains fourth with 4 points from the same number of matches.
