KATHMANDU: The Nepali national cricket team, currently on a tour of Scotland for the ICC World Cup League-2, is set to kick off its triangular series campaign today by facing host nation Scotland.
The match will be played at Forthill, Scotland, with the first ball set to be bowled at 3:45 PM Nepali time. Nepal is aiming for a strong start in the series, which also features the Netherlands as the third team.
As part of their preparations, the Nepali team played a practice match against Scotland ‘A’ and previously participated in a warm-up game in England.
This will mark Nepal’s 13th match in the ongoing League-2 series. The team has had a tough run so far, managing just two wins from 12 matches, with eight losses, placing them at the bottom of the points table with only six points.
Scotland, who will be playing their 17th match today, currently sit in fourth place with 20 points, having won nine and lost five.
The Netherlands stands second in the table with 26 points, earned from 12 wins, six losses, and two no-results. At the top of the table is the United States, which has played 20 matches—winning 14 and losing six—to accumulate 28 points, making them the current leader of the ICC World Cup League-2 standings.
