KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh on Sunday inspected the ongoing upgradation works at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, expressing concern over delays in the project.

The stadium, which is being developed to meet international standards, is undergoing significant enhancements, including the installation of floodlights and construction of a large parapet. The project aims to transform the venue into a suitable site for hosting major domestic and international cricket events.

The parapet construction began in Falgun (mid-February) and was contracted to the BKOI-KCDC-BG JV for Rs 437.7 million. The structure is designed to seat 10,000 spectators. However, despite the initial deadline of Baisakh 24 (May 7, 2025), the work has yet to be completed.

During the inspection, Prime Minister Oli expressed dissatisfaction over the delay and directed officials and contractors to accelerate the remaining construction.
