KATHMANDU: Nepal faced a heartbreaking 3–2 loss to Bangladesh in their second match of the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship after conceding a last-minute goal.

In the competitive fixture held Sunday evening at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Bangladesh, Nepal managed to come back from a 2–0 deficit to level the score, but ultimately lost after conceding in injury time.

Bangladesh started the game aggressively and took the lead early. Sinha Sikha scored in the 14th minute, followed by another goal from Sagorika in the 36th minute, giving the home team a 2–0 advantage at halftime.

Nepal returned to the second half with a significantly improved performance. In the 56th minute, a scuffle between Nepali defender Simran Rai and Bangladeshi forward Sagorika resulted in both players being sent off with red cards, reducing both sides to 10 players.

Nepal was awarded a penalty in the 77th minute, which Anisha Rai successfully converted, reigniting hope for the team.

In the 86th minute, Mina Deuba scored the equalizer, leveling the score at 2–2. At that point, Nepal appeared to have gained the momentum, and a draw seemed likely.

However, in the dying moments of injury time, Shrimoti scored the decisive goal for Bangladesh, regaining the lead.

The referee blew the final whistle immediately afterward, leaving the Nepali team devastated.

Nepal had secured a dominant 6–1 win over Bhutan in their opening match, while Bangladesh had thrashed Sri Lanka 9–1.

Following this defeat, Nepal must now secure a strong result in their final group-stage match to keep their hopes of reaching the final alive.
