Seven Nepali athletes to compete at Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

KATHMANDU: Nepal will be represented by seven athletes across five sports at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, scheduled from October 22 to 31, 2025.

The competitors are: Sabina Shrestha (badminton), Ruven Thapa (golf), Samita Nepali (judo), Palestha Kakshhapati and Genji Rai (Muay Thai), and Atharva Singh and Arya Maharjan (swimming).

Officials accompanying the team include Tilak Pandey (badminton), Dhruva Babu Thapa (golf), Devakimaya Shrestha (judo), Bhupesh Shakya (Muay Thai), and Nayana Shakya (swimming).

The team was formally seen off at an event on Sunday by National Sports Council (NSC) Member-Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, Deputy Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta, NSC Executive Committee member Kamal Bahadur Bhattarai, and National Team Preparations Director Deepak Bista.

The Muay Thai team will depart first on Tuesday, while golfer Ruben Thapa, currently abroad, will travel directly to Bahrain.

Additionally, international umpire Tejendra Singh Mahar will serve as a referee in the table tennis competition.
