KIRTIPUR: After a win in today’s match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, Bangladesh has clinched a spot in the Super Six. The match at UT Cricket Ground saw Bangladesh secure their place in the Super Six after achieving three victories in a row.
In today’s third match, Bangladesh triumphed Namibia by 80 runs to enter the Super Six. Previously, Bangladesh had also defeated the USA and Papua New Guinea. This latest victory ensured Bangladesh’s place at the top of Group ‘A’ with six points. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Bangladesh posted a total of 144 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Shobhana Mostari was the standout performer for Bangladesh, scoring 27 runs, while Dilera Akter contributed 25 runs. For Namibia, Saima Tuhadeleni and Silvia Sihepo took two wickets each, while Wilka Mwatile and Jurien Yairgart made one wicket apiece.
In response, Namibia was bowled out for just 64 runs in 17.5 overs. Suné Witman was the top scorer for Namibia with 19 runs, and Majerly Igorases contributed 12 runs, but other batsmen failed to make double figures.
For Bangladesh, Shorna Akter was the star with the ball, taking four wickets, while Rabeya Khan and Fahima Khatun each took three wickets.
