KATHMANDU: The Sustainable Tourism Project (STP), a joint initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and UNDP, has organized a three-day training on Wilderness First Aid (WFA) from November 3–5, 2025, at Hotel Himalaya.

The program is being conducted in collaboration with Magnificent Himalayan Expedition Pvt. Ltd.

A total of 11 female guides from various organizations, including MoGAN, TAAN, KEEP, Magnificent Himalayan Expedition, and The Everest News, are participating in the training.

The sessions are being facilitated by Ms. Lixayda Vasquez, director of Kausay School based in Peru, and assisted by first responders Miriam Diaz and Mariana Torres from Mexico.

The training program has been framed within Mujer Montaña, an organization led by Griselda Moreno from Argentina, based in Latin America.

The training combines both theoretical and practical learning, with approximately 30% theory and 70% hands-on practice.

Its main objective is to enhance the capacity of female trekking guides by strengthening their knowledge and practical skills to provide immediate and appropriate care in wilderness settings, and to prevent and manage common wilderness-related illnesses and injuries.
