KATHMANDU: Flights across the country have been affected due to unfavorable weather conditions.

The disruption is caused by bad weather and deteriorating “in-route weather,” impacting both domestic and international flights from Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, several domestic flights have been diverted today due to adverse weather, and flights to Bharatpur and Tumlingtar airports have been suspended.

Pokhara Airport has closed arrivals but is allowing departures only. Sherpa added that a Shree Airlines flight from Biratnagar to Kathmandu was diverted, and another flight from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu was diverted back to Bhairahawa.

On the international front, Nepal Airlines’ flight to New Delhi was diverted, while an Indigo flight was also redirected to New Delhi, and an Air India flight was diverted to Lucknow.

The current visibility at Tribhuvan International Airport is 2,500 meters. The airport office reported that in-route weather issues are causing problems for domestic flights.

Meanwhile, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, the cyclone “Montha,” which developed over the Bay of Bengal, entered India’s Andhra Pradesh on the night of October 29.

The system gradually weakened and moved north-northwest toward Nepal’s mid-hill region, before shifting eastward as a low-pressure area.

The Meteorological Division has predicted that from today until Saturday, the weather in Bagmati, Madhes, and Koshi provinces will be affected.

Moderate rainfall is expected in most areas of Madhes and Koshi provinces and some parts of Bagmati province.

There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two locations in these provinces, and authorities have urged everyone to take necessary precautions.
