TAPLEJUNG: Flight operations at Suketar Airport in Taplejung have been suspended due to adverse weather conditions.

Continuous rainfall over the past five days has disrupted visibility, forcing the cancellation of Friday’s scheduled flight.

According to Suketar Airport officials, persistent rain and thick fog have made flying impossible. “Heavy fog and low visibility caused by continuous rainfall prevented today’s flight,” one official at Suketar Airport said.

As a result, 17 passengers — including two foreign tourists scheduled to fly to Kathmandu — were left stranded. Likewise, passengers planning to travel from Kathmandu to Taplejung have also been affected.

The suspension of flights during the tourist season has inconvenienced both domestic and international trekkers visiting the Kanchenjunga region, along with other travelers.

Nepal Airlines stated that flights will likely remain suspended until the weather improves. The airline operates only one weekly Twin Otter flight on the Kathmandu–Taplejung–Kathmandu route every Friday.
