Nepal welcomes over 92,000 tourists in a month

KATHMANDU: Nepal received 92,573 foreign tourists in January , marking a 15.7 percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.

Indian visitors topped the list, with 26,624 arrivals during the month. China followed with 9,101 tourists, while 8,406 visitors came from the United States. Bangladesh and Australia accounted for 5,814 and 4,957 arrivals respectively.

Tourists from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation countries made up the largest share, accounting for 39.3 percent of total arrivals. Visitors from other Asian countries comprised 26.1 percent, followed by Europe at 12.3 percent, the Americas at 10.8 percent, and Oceania at 5.7 percent. Arrivals from the Middle East stood at 1 percent, while Africa accounted for 0.4 percent.
