KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) has rescued 750 people stranded in snow in Manang.
The stranded individuals, who were visiting Manang, were safely brought from Tilicho Base Camp to Khangsar in Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality-9, the APF said.
Additionally, 50 people were kept safe at Tilicho Base Camp, according to APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa.
Some visitors were returned safely because Khangsar lacked sufficient space and food to accommodate everyone.
In a separate incident, 45-year-old Birendra Rasaili from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 was rescued after being buried by a landslide and rendered unconscious while returning from Tilicho Lake.
The APF Mountain Rescue Training School in Manang transported him from Khangsar to Humde Health Post.
Thapa noted that since the establishment of the APF Mountain Rescue Training School in Manang, which conducts high-altitude search and rescue operations, responding to snow-bound citizens has become more efficient and timelier.
