KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning of flash flood risks in 16 districts today, including Sindhupalchowk.
Although major rivers are currently flowing below danger levels, authorities expect water levels to rise during the day, particularly in smaller rivers and tributaries.
As of this morning, major rivers such as the Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Kankai, Kamala, East Rapti, West Rapti, and Babai are below the alert mark. However, the Mahakali River is flowing near the alert level and is expected to rise in the afternoon.
The Division has cautioned of significant increases in water flow in small rivers passing through Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Dhading, Lamjung, and nearby areas, raising the possibility of flash floods.
Similarly, rivers in Nuwakot, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, Mugu, Jumla, Surkhet, Dailekh, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura may experience a notable rise in water levels, posing a moderate risk of flooding.
Authorities have urged residents of all 16 districts to remain vigilant and adopt precautionary measures to minimize risks from sudden floods.
