KATHMANDU:  Monsoon rains have brought cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall in parts of Sudurpaschim and Bagmati provinces, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Authorities have warned that river levels are rising across several districts, raising the risk of flash floods.

Small rivers in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Darchula, Dadeldhura, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Kathmandu, and surrounding districts are expected to rise significantly, with high to medium risk of sudden flooding.

Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain cautious and follow local warnings. The Flood Forecasting Division reported that, as of Monday morning, flows in rivers like Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Koshi, Mahakali, and their tributaries are approaching alert levels in some regions.

Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely and are coordinating with local agencies for emergency response.
