KATHMANDU: The Hydrology and Meteorology Forecasting Division has stated that monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country and the monsoon low pressure line is located around the average location in the west and slightly north of the average location in the east.
Although it will remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at many places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at some places in other provinces.
According to the division, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Koshi province. In addition, there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some places in the high hills and mountainous parts of the country. There is a possibility of wind in the Terai region of Koshi Province and some places in Madhes Province.
Similarly, it will be partly to generally cloudy across the country tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly regions including Koshi, Madhes and Sudurpaschim provinces and in some places in other provinces.
According to the regular weather bulletin issued by the division at 6:00 am today, there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Madhes and Sudurpaschim provinces. In addition, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some places in the high hills and mountainous areas of the country. There is a possibility of wind in some places in Madhes province.
Stating that there is a risk of flooding, landslides and flash floods due to the possible rainfall, the division has requested the general public in the urban and Terai areas to be cautious as there is a risk of inundation.
The water level in large and small rivers and streams may rise, affecting daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, roads and air transport around the river areas, so the general public and all concerned bodies have been requested to adopt necessary precautions and prepare.
