KATHMANDU: The Hydrology and Meteorology Forecasting Division has stated that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country and the monsoon low pressure line is located near the central location.

It will be generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. According to the division, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces, as well as other provinces.

There is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall at some places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country. There is also a possibility of windstorm at some places in the Terai region of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similarly, it will remain partly to generally cloudy across the country tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places of Koshi Province and some places of Madhes Province including hilly areas. In addition, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in one or two places of high hilly and mountainous areas.

Stating that there is a risk of flooding, landslides and flash floods due to the possible rainfall, the division has requested the general public in the urban and Terai areas to be cautious as there is a risk of inundation. The water level in large and small rivers and streams may rise, affecting daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, roads and air transport around the river areas, so the general public and all concerned bodies have been requested to adopt necessary precautions and prepare.
