KATHMANDU: Widespread monsoon activity has triggered a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as hilly regions of other provinces, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The department also warns of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in many hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

The weather across the country is expected to remain generally cloudy, with chances of light to moderate snowfall in some high-hill and mountainous areas.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy nationwide, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in many areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places elsewhere.

Very heavy rain is also possible at isolated locations in these provinces.

The department has reiterated the possibility of light to moderate snowfall in some high-altitude areas.
