KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division has warned of a high risk of flooding today due to the impact of the ‘Montha’ cyclone in various parts of the country.
According to the Division, water levels in most rivers across Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces are expected to rise over the next three days.
It has also cautioned that some rivers in these regions may experience sudden flash floods. The Division has urged residents in low-lying and riverbank areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions to avoid possible flood-related hazards.
Today, small rivers flowing through the districts of Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Tehrathum, Panchthar, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Siraha, Saptari, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Kavrepalanchok, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West), Rupandehi, and Kapilvastu — and nearby areas — are expected to see significant increases in flow, raising the likelihood of flash floods.
Residents living near riverbanks have been advised to exercise special caution and make necessary preparations to stay safe from potential flooding.
