KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that the influence of the westerly wind continues over Nepal, bringing chances of light rain in some hilly and Himalayan areas.

According to the department, partial cloud cover is expected in the hilly regions of the country, while most other areas will experience generally clear weather.

A few places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces may see light rain and snowfall.

Earlier, heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Montha that developed in the Bay of Bengal had disrupted daily life in several parts of the country.

Rain and snowfall were also recorded in Himalayan regions during that period.

Due to snowfall, 13 domestic and foreign tourists were stranded at the Tilicho Lake Base Camp in Ward No. 9 of Manang’s Ngisyang Rural Municipality.

They were later rescued by a team from the Armed Police Force’s Mountain Rescue Training Center in Manang.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, between the morning of November 1 and November 2, rainfall data were collected from 301 measurement stations across the country.

Among them, 185 stations recorded significant rainfall.

Lamjung’s Besisahar station recorded the highest rainfall, measuring 71.1 millimeters.

Four other stations reported more than 50 millimeters of rain during the same period.
