KATHMANDU: The monsoon has picked up slight momentum as moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal continues to flow into Nepal.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon trough is near its average position, bringing light to moderate rain in hilly areas of all provinces this afternoon.

The Department has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Koshi, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces today, with cloudy skies prevailing nationwide.

Tonight, conditions will remain partly to generally cloudy, with a chance of heavy rain in one or two places of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Authorities have urged caution, warning of landslides, debris flows, and rising water levels in rivers and streams that could affect transportation and increase risks in vulnerable areas.
