Monsoon weakening; moderate rain likely in some areas

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that the western wind is currently affecting most parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as some western parts of Gandaki Province.

Meanwhile, the remaining regions are under the influence of monsoon and local winds.

According to the division, most parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, along with other hilly regions, are generally cloudy, while the rest of the country is partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in the hilly areas of Sudurpaschim Province, the western parts of Karnali and Lumbini provinces, a few areas of Bagmati Province, and one or two places in Gandaki Province.

During the afternoon, the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the Tarai plains will experience partial cloud cover.

There is a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, partial cloudiness is expected over Koshi and Madhesh provinces and other hilly regions, while the rest of the country will see mostly clear skies.

Light rain is possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
