Rain likely in hilly and mountainous regions, heat to rise in Terai

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that Nepal is currently experiencing a partial influence from a western low-pressure line in the upper atmosphere, alongside local and easterly winds.

According to the Division, the country’s mountainous and hilly regions will generally remain cloudy this afternoon.

The plains (Terai) of Koshi and Madhesh provinces will see partial cloud cover, while the weather in the Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces will remain mostly clear.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in a few places within the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi province.

Similar weather is expected in one or two locations in the mountainous and hilly terrains of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

One or two places in the Terai plains of Koshi and Madhesh provinces might also experience light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Meanwhile, a few areas in the Terai plains of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with isolated places in the Terai of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, are likely to experience hot, heatwave-like days.

Tonight, Koshi province will remain generally cloudy.

Other mountainous and hilly regions will experience partial cloud cover, while the weather in the remaining Terai plains will be mostly clear.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecast for a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi province, as well as one or two places in the high-altitude areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

A few spots in the Terai plains of Koshi province also stand a chance of experiencing light to moderate thundershowers.
