KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reported that the monsoon trough is currently situated south of its normal position, resulting in generally cloudy weather across Nepal.

Moderate rainfall is likely this afternoon in parts of the hilly regions and the Terai, including Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, according to the forecast.

The weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy tonight, with moderate showers anticipated in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

DHM cautioned that one or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces may experience heavy downpours.

Authorities have warned of possible landslides, debris flows, and rising water levels in rivers and streams.

The department urged the public to remain cautious, as transportation services could also be disrupted.
