Kathmandu: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has stressed the need for emphasizing more on preventive than curative aspect to prevent the spread of the disease.

He stressed on the need to spread awareness about the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle to be safe from diseases.

“We have not been able to do as much as expected in disease prevention. It is important to adopt a healthy lifestyle. An unhealthy lifestyle is the cause of diseases. The media sector plays an important role in making people aware,” said the former President, who is a medical doctor, while speaking at a programme organized on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the Swasthya Darpan Media Network here today.

Senior nephrologist Dr Rishi Kumar Kafle said, “Faulty diet is the cause of the disease. Lifestyle changes must be made to stay healthy.” On the occasion, 14 doctors, five health workers, one media person and four organisations were honoured with the ‘Swasthya Darpan National Health Award 2081’.
