KATHMANDU: Nepali actor Ramesh Upreti is set to return to the big screen with the upcoming film Maharajadhiraj, marking his comeback after eight years. He was last seen in the 2017 film Aishwarya. According to the production unit, Upreti has been signed in a leading role.

Although he remained in Nepal during this time, Upreti did not appear in any films. However, he featured in a few music videos.

Maharajadhiraj is directed by Parichhed Sen, who previously directed Premganj. The film is slated for release on Phulpati, during the Dashain festival. A poster released earlier featured actor Paul Shah in two contrasting roles one showing him nude and seated on a throne, and the other portraying him as a royal sage, adorned with a crown and holding a scepter. The lead actress for the film is yet to be finalized.

The film is written by director Sen himself and presented by Biraj Bista. It is produced by Topendra Bista, Chakrabahadur KC, and Ravi Khadka.
