KATHMANDU: A Chinese delegation led by Xiao Jie, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, the Chinese delegation expressed its best wishes for the success of the “Sagarmatha Dialogue,” scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from May 16.

They also claimed that China is ready to further strengthen the long-standing and friendly relations between the two countries. Xiao Jie conveyed China’s good wishes for Nepal’s development and prosperity, recalling the success of Prime Minister Oli’s official visit to China last December.

Prime Minister Oli highlighted the long-standing, problem-free, and cordial relations between Nepal and China. He expressed his admiration for China’s rapid development in technology and its global influence.

Reflecting on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Nepal in 2019, Prime Minister Oli termed it “multi-dimensional and historic.” He reiterated Nepal’s firm commitment to the One-China Policy and emphasized the need for proactive efforts from all sides to implement the cooperation agreements signed between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, Nepal’s Ambassador to China Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
