KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has announced that the private sector will be established as a key driver of economic prosperity in Nepal.

Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025-26), Minister Paudel stated that the government will gradually implement the recommendations of the High-Level Commission on Economic Reform 2081.

He further emphasized that the government will focus on diversifying financial resources to meet the minimum investment requirements following Nepal’s upgradation to a developing country by 2026, and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

The budget also gives high priority to youth-targeted job creation programs, aiming to address rising unemployment and promote economic inclusion.
