KATHMANDU: A complaint has been submitted to the Judicial Council seeking investigation and disciplinary measures against two judges who issued a verdict acquitting former Minister Mohammad Aftab Alam and others accused in the Rautahat bomb blast case.

The petition claims that Judges Dr. Khusi Prasad Tharu and Arjun Maharjan overlooked crucial pieces of evidence and failed to consider key findings presented by the district court, which had earlier convicted Alam on murder charges.

Filed by advocate Yuvraj Paudel, the complaint also calls for a broader review of the judges’ previous decisions. Highlighting the risk of compromised judicial integrity, the petition emphasizes the necessity of suspending the two judges from active duty during the course of the investigation.

Paudel has requested the Judicial Council to summon the full case files from the High Court, along with the acquittal decision, to facilitate a detailed inquiry into how the final judgment was reached despite contrary conclusions by the lower court.
