KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has concluded that its ongoing protest movement, launched with demands for the restoration of the monarchy and declaration of Nepal as a Hindu state, is gaining momentum.

RPP Chairperson Rajendra Lingden informed that Saturday’s meeting of the party’s Executive Committee held in Kathmandu concluded that the government’s decision to impose a prohibitory order at the protest site proves the effectiveness of their movement.

He stated that the government declared the protest area a restricted zone out of fear, and this has further encouraged their campaign.

The meeting decided to intensify the movement in accordance with directives from the United People’s Movement Mobilization Committee, he added.

Chairperson Lingden clarified that no matter how much the state tries to suppress the movement, they will not back down.

He remarked that Jestha 15 (May 29) provided an opportunity to gauge the strength of monarchists versus republicans.
