POKHARA: Stranded passengers in Pokhara were escorted to their destinations after public transportation in Gandaki Province was halted.
Following the transport strike enforced by the Public Transport Protection Struggle Committee from Jestha 16 (May 30), 25 tourist buses were mobilized on Jestha 18 (June 1) from 10 AM to assist the stranded travelers.
A joint team of the Armed Police Force (No. 24 Kalika Battalion, Kaski) and Nepal Police provided an escort from Pokhara to the district border at Kotre.
From there, another team from Armed Police Force No. 23 Manakamana Battalion in Tanahun, along with local police, escorted the buses to Muglin.
According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, passengers were safely escorted up to the Gandaki–Bagmati provincial border, ensuring their safe transit to final destinations.
A total of 25 buses were dispatched toward Chitwan and Kathmandu. On Saturday, around 1,500 candidates who had traveled to Pokhara to take the Teachers Service Commission exam were escorted to Muglin in tourist and school buses under police protection.
