KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a meeting of top leaders from major political parties to discuss the ongoing obstruction in the House of Representatives.

The discussion is underway at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

Participating in the meeting are Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman Oli, Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Also present are Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak—embroiled in the visit visa controversy—Nepali Congress Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka, and Maoist Centre General Secretary Dev Gurung, among others.

Opposition parties have continued to block parliamentary proceedings, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Lekhak over alleged collusion in the visit visa scam.

In response, PM Oli convened the meeting with major party leaders to find a political way out.

Before the tripartite meeting began, Maoist Chairman Prachanda held a separate consultation with CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and also spoke with Congress President Deuba over the phone.
