ACHHAM: A handover ceremony for medical equipment took place at Bayalpata Hospital in Sanfebagar Municipality, Achham District on June 24.

Mr. Tamura Takahiro, Charge d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal, attended the event. Under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), a grant of USD 66,263 (approximately NPR 8.9 million) was provided to equip Bayalpata Hospital with trauma care and orthopedic surgery medical equipment.

The hospital, managed by NGO Nyaya Health Nepal in partnership with provincial and local governments, serves as a key medical institution for the Achham, Bajura, and Doti districts of Sudurpaschim Province, as well as Kalikot and Dailekh districts of Karnali Province.

Mr. Tamura expressed gratitude to everyone involved for their efforts in completing the project. He highlighted that this support will enhance the medical environment, improve access to quality healthcare in rural Nepal, and strengthen the friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal.

The GGP program was established to directly benefit grassroots communities through socio-economic development projects. Since 1991, over 200 such projects have been implemented in Nepal.
