KAPILVASTU: A 14-month-old girl has died due to a snakebite in Maharajgunj Municipality–2 of Kapilvastu. The child, Sangita Paswan, daughter of Jhagaru Paswan, was bitten by a snake while sleeping last night.

After the snakebite, she fell unconscious and was immediately taken to Bahadurganj Hospital for treatment. As treatment was not possible there, she was referred to the Gorusigge Snakebite Treatment Center. However, she died on the way, according to the center’s manager, Naveen Bhandari.

Locals have reported that despite a growing fear of snakes in the village, the lack of effective treatment services has led to the loss of lives.
