KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML has entered its second day at the party’s central headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

Chaired by Prime Minister and party chair KP Sharma Oli, the meeting is deliberating on the statute amendment proposal and the organizational report ahead of the party’s upcoming Statute Convention.

According to UML Publicity Department head Rajendra Gautam, Vice Chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel—who is responsible for drafting the amendment—will present the proposal, and central members will be allowed up to three minutes each to express their views.

The amendment proposal, previously endorsed by the party’s Politburo on July 18 and 19, reportedly includes controversial provisions such as scrapping the 70-year age limit and the two-term cap for office-bearers.

About 230 Central Committee members, excluding those in the Secretariat, Standing Committee, and Politburo, are expected to participate in the discussion.

The UML’s Statute Convention is scheduled for September 5-7 at the Sunrise International Convention Center in Godawari, Lalitpur.
